GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — The main line of Union Pacific through Grand Island will use the new PTC equipment, as will part of the much smaller Nebraska Central Railroad network that includes the branch line from Grand Island to Ord. Nebraska Central, though only a shortline railway, is involved because it makes heavy use of trackage rights on the Union Pacific main line from Grand Island to Central City and Columbus, where other branches of the NCRC are connected to the UP tracks.
