BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — Railroaders who work in Norfolk Southern’s Pocahontas Division were happy to bring their children to see Santa during his recent visit to the NS Mechanical Shops in Bluefield, but many appeared to be equally interested in seeing one of NS’s new AC locomotives that brought Santa’s sled into the Bluefield yard. The primary advantage of the AC-powered locomotives is in the increased pulling power they can provide at low speeds.
