DULUTH, Minn. — Plans for a train convention in Duluth are derailed due to a new policy limiting the use of charter and private trains. The American Association of Private Railroad Car Owners had planned on holding its annual convention in Duluth from Sept. 20-22 but canceled when Amtrak announced to employees on March 28 that charter services and special trains would no longer be allowed to use their rails. The association’s transportation to the convention — a train chartered from New Orleans to Duluth coined the “Lake Superior Limited” — was canceled.
