PUEBLO, Colo. — The existing Amtrak line through Southern Colorado brings about 6,300 out-of-state visitors per year, enough to make an economic case for preserving the line, according to a study by two Colorado State University-Pueblo professors. Adding a Pueblo stop would bring more out-of-state visitors and economic gains but also could reduce the number of travelers who stop in Trinidad, La Junta and Lamar, the study says.
