NEWARK, N.J. — New schedules for NJ Transit trains will take effect Jan. 14 and will bring changes on several lines, including the North Jersey Coast Line.

Coast Line schedules will have minor changes affecting six trains in the morning peak period, said Joe Dee, NJ Transit spokesman.

Schedules for those trains will be adjusted by one to two minutes to allow them to remain on-time when they join the Northeast Corridor Line, he said.

One train from Long Branch to Bay Head will leave seven minutes later than it does now. Train 4315 now departs Long Branch at 7:20 a.m., Monday through Friday. Starting Jan. 14, it will leave Long Branch at 7:27 a.m., he said.

The other change involves the last departure from New York, Train 5347, which leaves Penn Station at 1:41 a.m., Monday to Friday. That train will now run Sunday to Thursday, and passengers have to change at Newark for a diesel Coast Line train to Bay Head.

Starting Jan. 14, on Fridays and Saturdays, that train from New York will leave Penn Station at 1:37 a.m., and Coast Line passengers won’t have to change trains until Long Branch for stations between there and Bay Head.

The new timetables will be available in stations next week and can be seen at NJ Transit’s Web site.
