BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — NJ Transit has asked a state court to dismiss a pair of workplace injury lawsuits, arguing again that it cannot be sued under a longstanding federal law that protects railroad workers. The agency had already asked a federal district court to dismiss dozens of similar lawsuits filed under the 1908 Federal Employers Liability Act, a law that protects railroad workers throughout the country on Amtrak, commuter railroads and freight railroads.
