NEWARK, N.J. — New Jersey Transit said Thursday that it will put an extra 300 customer service representatives on duty and take other special precautions during the week of the Republican National Convention.

Starting Monday, 60 extra customer service representatives will be at the Hoboken Terminal alone, mainly to assist passengers arriving on rerouted Midtown Direct trains.

Those passengers will be directed to PATH trains, buses and ferries, because their trains will not be traveling directly to New York’s Penn Station, which lies directly below Madison Square Garden, the convention site.

The agency will also use 26 temporary overhead message signs to direct passengers at the Hoboken terminal.

Other representatives will be stationed at Newark and New York Penn Stations, Secaucus Junction, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan.
