NEW YORK — NJ Transit officials said they will respond to the railroad’s aging infrastructure and crippling delays by meeting with federal leaders to plead for more money. The New Jersey Department of Transportation will conduct an inventory of the equipment problems, with a focus rail lines in the Northeast Corridor, a spokesman said Thursday. NJ Transit pays $100 million a year to use the Amtrak-owned rail lines and make some improvements.
