NEWARK, N.J. — More people are using NJ Transit trains and buses to head down the shore this summer.
Sales of beach packages were 53 percent higher in May and June.
The agency also sold 23,894 bus packages to Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park in May and June. That’s an 18.6 increase from the same period last year.
During the two months, there was a 5.8 percent rise in packages to Monmouth Park racetrack in Oceanport.
NJ Transit believes higher gasoline prices are fueling ridership.
