NEWARK — NJ Transit officials have suspended rail service in both directions on the Raritan Valley Line between Raritan and High Bridge for the rest of the day, while crews continue to repair the damage caused when an oversized truck hit a railroad bridge at Milltown Road in North Branch.
The accident happened shortly after 3 p.m., said Joe Dee, spokesman for NJ Transit. Crews will be working overnight to repair the damage. NJ Transit officials will alert customers early tomorrow morning on whether there will be rail service, or whether customers will need to make alternative plans.
NJ Transit will provide alternate shuttle bus transportation for affected customers.
