NEWARK, N.J — New Jersey’s largest transportation network has beefed up security in forces tracked down and killed terror mastermind Osama bin Laden.

NJ Transit issued a statement this afternoon to alert its rail and bus customers to be vigilant about reporting any suspicious activity or unattended packages. The statement also said NJ Transit Police and other law enforcement agencies will “continue to maintain a heightened state of vigilance across the system.”

NJ Transit noted its police force continues to maintain close communication with the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, the FBI, and agencies at the municipal, county, state and federal levels.
