JERSEY CITY, N.J. — NJ Transit train service between Newark and Manhattan could experience some delays this weekend due to rail work for the new Secaucus Transfer Station, NJ Transit officials said.
Beginning at 11 p.m. tonight through 5 a.m. Monday, riders on the North Jersey Coast, Northeast Corridor, Morris & Essex and the Montclair-Boonton lines between Newark Broad Street Station and Penn Station New York could experience delays of up to 15 minutes while a high-speed switch is installed between Newark and New York.
On Sept. 6, the Secaucus Transfer Station will open for weekend service. Full service will begin later this year, after PATH service is restored to Lower Manhattan – currently scheduled for November.
The transfer station will connect 10 of NJ Transit’s 11 rail lines.
