BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — An NJ Transit bus operator said he was handed a pair of gloves and a square towelette before heading out on an eight-hour shift in North Jersey last week. The next day, he was feverish, had chills and was in bed with early coronavirus symptoms, eventually testing positive. He joins the growing ranks of infected front-line transit employees who drive buses, collect train tickets, operate locomotives or clean stations, some of whom spoke to The Record and NorthJersey.com about their concerns on the condition they would not be identified because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
