RIALTO, Calif. — Firefighters and a hazardous materials team worked quickly Tuesday to stop an ammonia leak on a train car at the Union Pacific rail yard, in the 19000 block of West Slover Avenue.

Union Pacific employees determined about 8:30 p.m. that a safety valve on a tank car containing anhydrous ammonia commonly used for the production of nitrogen fertilizers was leaking, according to a Rialto Fire Department news release.

No injuries were reported, and the leak, which was quickly contained, posed no threat to the public, the release said.
