BRIDGEPORT, Neb. — No injuries were reported after a Union Pacific coal train derailed four miles southeast of town early Thursday.

Mark Davis, a railroad spokesman, said the 123-car train was traveling from Wyoming to Kansas City, Mo.

Forty-three cars derailed.

Crews were working to repair 280 feet of track on one main line. That track was expected to reopen Thursday night, Davis said

A 1,500-foot section of track on the other line was damaged, Davis said, and was expected to be closed until Friday.

The cause of the 3 a.m. MST derailment is under investigation, Davis said.
