ENID, Okla. — A Union Pacific train hauling cars, trucks, plastic pellets and a steel byproduct derailed in Enid this morning.
No injuries are reported and none of the materials are hazardous.
Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis says four cars in the 83 car train derailed. Officials don’t know the cause of the derailment but police say witnesses told officers that one car was “rocking violently” before derailing.
The derailed cars are blocking US Highway 412 and officials say the road will be closed until late afternoon or early evening before the roadway is cleared.
