HAWKINS, Texas — Nobody has been hurt in the East Texas derailment of at least 15 cars of a Union Pacific freight train, spilling loads of rice.
A dispatcher with the Wood County sheriff’s department says the accident happened early Friday west of Hawkins, near Crow (kroh).
Officials don’t believe the train was hauling any hazardous materials.
Hawkins Fire Department spokesman John Wise says some of the cars overturned.
Hawkins is about 100 miles east of Dallas.
