ARKANSAS CITY — A military equipment convoy being transported northbound through Arkansas City by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe was stopped for more than an hour this morning as police and railroad officials checked for someone spotted on the train.
“We’re pretty sure it’s just a hobo or some kids,” said Police Capt. Sean Wallace about 10 a.m. at the scene. “We’ve checked the entire length of the train – from Quincy or Jackson (Avenues) to Poplar – and haven’t found anything.
“It’s probably somebody taking a ride, or it might even have been a railroad employee.”
The BNSF called police about 9:05 a.m. after someone spotted a head popping up on the train, Wallace added.
