NS 3Q 2011 profit jumps 24 percent; Delivers record operating income and earnings per share

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Norfolk Southern Railway saw third quarter profit jump 24 percent to $554 million, with a solid 3.3 percent growth in volume, and the Eastern railroad said growth is continuing despite widespread concerns about the economy.
