NORFOLK, Va. — Railroad operator Norfolk Southern Corp. said Tuesday that it increased its quarterly dividend to 10 cents a share from 8 cents.
The dividend will be paid on Sept. 10 to shareholders of record Aug. 6. The company increased the dividend to 8 cents per share in the third quarter of 2003 from 7 cents previously.
A Thomson First Call analyst poll predicts that Norfolk Southern will post earnings of 46 cents per share for the second quarter Wednesday, up from 35 cents a year ago.
Norfolk Southern stock was up 57 cents, or 2.2 percent, at $26.02 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
