NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Southern will be performing infrastructure improvements to support Positive Train Control (PTC) in Chattanooga, Tenn., which will require a 36 hour mainline track outage beginning on Sunday, July 29 at 7:00 a.m. During this outage, no trains will traverse to/from Sheffield, Ala., Birmingham, Ala. or the CSXT interchange in Chattanooga. NS is reviewing opportunities to reroute limited traffic through other corridors; however, delays of 48 hours or more should be expected for traffic moving through the Chattanooga area.
