NORFOLK, Va. — As part of its plan to turn things around and streamline operations, first announced early last month, the railroad plans to cut 2,000 jobs by 2020, including 1,200 this year, through attrition and furloughs, Jim Squires, Norfolk Southern’s chairman, president and CEO, told analysts in a conference call.
