NORFOLK, Va. — Following is an update on the Hoosac Tunnel service disruption on Norfolk Southern’s partner line, Pan Am Railways, which affects all trains operating between Mechanicsville, New York, and Ayer, Massachusetts.
Pan Am Railway is actively working on repairs, and the line is expected to remain out of service until at least the end of the month. Norfolk Southern has removed the embargo of merchandise shipments into this area. Customers with traffic moving through this area should expect delays of 48-72 hours.
There is no available detour for Automotive shipments to Ayer, Massachusetts and this traffic will remain embargoed until the line reopens.
