NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Southern Corporation (NYSE: NSC – news) has been recognized by three key customers for exceptional quality and customer service during 2001, reports a company press release.
Norfolk Southern was the only railroad to be named a Pro-Tec Coating Company “Outstanding Service Supplier.” NS transports coiled steel to Pro- Tec’s plant at Leipsic, Ohio. This is the first time Pro-Tec, which supplies hot-dip galvanized steel to automotive, appliance and construction customers, has presented the award. Pro-Tec is owned by Kobe Steel and U.S. Steel Group (USX).
Steel Dynamics also recognized Norfolk Southern for service excellence. Steel Dynamics’ Flat Roll Division at Butler, Ind., produces hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel sheet for automotive, construction, commercial and industrial applications.
Finally, General Motors Vehicle Logistics presented Norfolk Southern with its Quality All-Star Award for 2001 in recognition of superior performance in achieving logistics quality goals for the year.
