WASHINGTON — The National Transportation Safety Board will hold a Board Meeting Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at 9:30 a.m., at its Board Room and Conference Center, 429 L’Enfant Plaza, S.W., Washington, D.C. Item to be discussed:
The Safety Board will look at the Tuesday, April 23, 2002 collision involving a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train and a Metrolink passenger train in Placentia, California. As a result of the accident, there were two fatalities, 22 serious injuries, and 162 persons were transported to the hospital. Damages were estimated at $4.8 million.
