WASHINGTON, D.C. — Deborah Hersman, Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, will be the keynote speaker on Monday, August 30 at the 16th International Operation Lifesaver International Symposium & Training Seminars. This year’s Symposium theme is Navigating Rail Safety – It’s Common Sense!

The symposium, a biennial leadership conference, will be held August 30-September 1, 2010 in Baltimore, Maryland. Information on how to register, hotel details, and the latest version of the symposium agenda are available at http://bit.ly/a2U2ao.

The symposium will feature helpful information, inspiring speakers, and refresher training for key highway-rail safety and trespass prevention officials. Distracted driving, pedestrian safety, and other current topics will be covered in general sessions and breakouts. An exhitbit area will showcase transportation technologies, systems, and resources to enhance safety. Federal, state and local highway safety officials, Operation Lifesaver state program coordinators and trainers, and international railway safety advocates will benefit from attending.

The Operation Lifesaver conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor, which is in walking distance of the city’s best attractions, entertainment venues and the waterfront.
