WASHINGTON — The National Transportation Safety Board will hold a public Board meeting on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. in its Board Room and Conference Center 429 L’Enfant Plaza, SW Washington, DC.

Two items are on the agenda:

Highway Special Investigation- Medical Oversight of Noncommercial Drivers: The report examines several accidents involving drivers with medical conditions that may have significantly impacted their ability to drive. The need for reliable data, training for health care professionals, state reporting requirements for medical conditions and the lack of uniform medical assessment and state oversight are discussed in the report. Federal Most Wanted Safety Recommendations Annual Update: The Board’s Most Wanted list was adopted in 1990 and serves to identify the safety improvements the Board believes will have the greatest impact on transportation safety. Some of the federal Most Wanted issues to be reviewed this year include: rate of runway incursions, fuel-air mixtures in fuel tanks of transport category aircraft, removal of recommendations for voyage data recorders (Marine) and cab voice recorders (Rail) from Most Wanted list.
