NEW YORK — Commuters planning on taking the Long Island Rail Road today should anticipate at least 30 minute delays on some westbound trains going through Jamaica during the morning rush hour, due to an overnight derailment of an equipment train east of Jamaica, the LIRR said.
At this time, the LIRR said that eastbound trains have not been affected and that the railroad is generally operating on or close to schedule. However, the following trains have been canceled:
On the Port Jefferson branch, the 6:49 a.m. westbound train from Huntington has been canceled. The 6:18 a.m. train from Port Jefferson will make added stops to accommodate customers from the canceled train.
The 7:29 a.m. westbound train from Hicksville has been canceled. A subsequent train will make stops at Hicksville at 7:37 a.m., Westbury at 7:42 a.m. and Carle Place at 7:45 a.m..
On the Hempstead branch, the 6:38 a.m. westbound train from Hempstead has been canceled. The 6:58 a.m. train from Hempstead will accommodate customers from the canceled train.
On the Ronkonkoma branch, the 6:57 a.m. westbound train from Farmingdale has been canceled. Stops will be added at Farmingdale, Bethpage and Hicksville by a subsequent train.
On the Babylon branch, the 6:57 a.m. westbound train from Freeport has been canceled. Added stops will be made by a subsequent train at Freeport, Baldwin and Rockville Centre.
The 7:29 a.m. westbound train from Freeport has been canceled. Added stops will be made by a subsequent train at Freeport, Baldwin and Rockville Centre.
The 7:48 a.m. westbound train from Wantagh has been canceled. Added stops will be made by a subsequent train at Wantagh, Bellmore, Merrick and Rockville Centre.
On the Far Rockaway branch, the 8:03 a.m. train from Valley Stream has been canceled. A stop will be added at 8:10 a.m. by a subsequent train that will also make local stops at Rosedale, Locust Manor and Laurelton.
