SARASOTA — William T. O’Brien, 72, Sarasota, died Nov. 1, 2006.

He was born Dec. 18, 1933, in Detroit and came to Sarasota in 2006 from Columbus, Ohio. He retired in 2002 as a railroad engineer with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and was a Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Martha Catholic Church. He was a member of the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon for 25 years.

Survivors include daughters Ann Matthews, Judy O. Klauber and Margaret-Mary (Peggy) , all of Sarasota; sons Michael of North Port and Timothy of Toledo, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Martha Catholic Church. Burial will be private. Packer Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
