DETROIT, Mich. — Last week, citizens of Michigan and the entire nation watched as Gov. tore our state apart. Now we begin the hard work of bringing us back together.
It won’t be easy after legislators and the governor abandoned their responsibility to Michigan families in favor of a narrow, partisan agenda. Democracy was thrown out the window as citizens were locked out of their state Capitol and life-changing, divisive legislation was discussed behind closed doors, and ultimately signed in the dark of night with hundreds of guards in riot gear keeping citizens out of our own public buildings.
