WASHINGTON, D.C. — The nomination has progressive groups concerned, both because of his views on government and his political career, rife as that is with controversy. “Todd Rokita is unfit for public office, full stop,” said Lizzie Price, a spokesperson for the government accountability organization Restore Public Trust. If he is confirmed to the Amtrak board, Rokita will be yet another Trump appointee with an antipathy to government regulation now in charge of a government agency.
