ASTORIA, Ore. — Passenger train service linking Portland and Astoria as a part of the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial will begin May 23 and operate four days per week, the Oregon Department of Transportation said Thursday.
The train will leave Portland s Union Station at 7:30 a.m. Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays for the four-hour trip and leave Astoria the same day for the return trip at 4:30 p.m.
The fare is $24 one way with discounts for children and seniors.
Businesses and individuals are subsidizing operating costs not covered by fares.
The trains will run through Sept. 2 and will offer food and beverage service. Tickets are available through Amtrak.
