CLEVELAND, April 15 — The BLET National Division is announcing overflow hotel information for the Organization’s 150th anniversary celebration in Detroit in early May.
Members and guests interested in attending the anniversary celebration of North America’s oldest labor union should first contact the Westin Book Cadillac Detroit at (888) 627-7150 and ask for the BLET-150 Group Rate. In the event that rooms are sold out, members and guests should call the contracted overflow hotel — the Courtyard Detroit Downtown (333 East Jefferson Ave., Detroit, MI 48226).
Overflow hotel reservations can be made by calling the Courtyard Detroit Downtown at (800) 321-2211 or (313) 222-7700. Guests should mention the Courtyard by Marriott, Detroit Downtown, and that they are part of the BLET 150th Anniversary Celebration Overflow Block in order to get the group rate of $135 per night. Reservations at the overflow hotel should be made by Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in order to receive the group rate.
The National Division has arranged for a shuttle service between the two hotels. The actual pick up point will be at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center (“RenCen Marriott”), which is across the street from the Marriott Courtyard. The RenCen Marriott and the Marriott Courtyard are connected by a catwalk.

On May 8, 1863, American labor history was made in Detroit with the founding of the Brotherhood of the Footboard. The Organization‘s name was changed one year later to Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and then to Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen in 2004. From May 6-9, 2013, the BLET — the oldest labor union in North America — is returning to Detroit to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
