CONCORD, Calif. — Pacer Stacktrain, a unit of freight transportation and logistics service provider Pacer International Inc., said yesterday it has expanded its intermodal services arrangement with Class I railroad BNSF Railway.
Pacer Stacktrain said in a statement that it will begin full service operations on BNSF’s network, effective April 1. Under this new arrangement, Pacer Stacktrain will have access to the entire BNSF network in the United States for the first time. And it added that interline service is also now available to and from Pacer-served CSX and CN locations.
“We are very pleased to have expanded our service with BNSF,” said Pacer International Chairman and CEO, Michael Uremovich in a statement. “The new Pacer Stacktrain BNSF Double Stack Service is a major milestone for our customers, providing fast and reliable ramp-to-ramp and door-to-door service.”
Uremovich also noted that this service expansion augments Pacer’s market reach, service level offerings, and capacity in key intermodal lanes, as well as its Stacktrain network, operating on Union Pacific and CSX, which Pacer since offered since it initially acquired Stacktrain in 1999.
Pacer said that this new service provides shippers with access to both the double stack and expedited BNSF service networks that are served with 53-foot containers. And it also noted that the expanded BNSF services will be merged with existing Pacer Stacktrain customer support and equipment reservation processes.
