PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A train car on one of Septa’s Regional Rail R-7 trains caught fire earlier tonight, causing firefighters to descend upon Bristol’s Septa station where the small blaze was extinguished, officials said.

No passengers were on the eight-car train, which carried only a conductor and an engineer as it headed toward Center City, Septa Spokesman Gary Fairfax said. No one was injured. The incident occurred about 6:50 p.m.

The fire, which was located in the roof of the train car, appeared to be electrical, according to Steve Reeves, assistant chief with the Bristol Consolidated Fire Co. Firefighters from Bristol as well as the Third District Fire Co., set up protective lines while other firefighters extinguished the blaze with dry chemicals, Reeves said.
