SUPERIOR, Wisc. — Superior emergency responders were called to the scene of a chemical spill Wednesday at the Itasca Railyard near 54th Avenue East.

A 30,000-gallon Union Pacific tank car was noticed leaking around 6:30 p.m. after having been overfilled with a fuel additive. Superior Fire and Police isolated the area and a cleanup crew was due to arrive at the scene at 9:30 p.m.

Two people inhaled fumes, but were not hospitalized, according to Superior Fire Capt. Steve Edwards. The surrounding neighborhood did not need to be evacuated, Edwards said.
