KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Authorities say Claiborne County resident Mark Anthony Bruce was irate when he learned a train struck and killed his deaf friend.
So he allegedly got drunk, grabbed an AK-47, walked to the tracks where his buddy died and opened fire on a Norfolk Southern Railroad train. No one was injured during the late-night June 2 shooting, but it did land Bruce, 47, behind bars.
