EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Indiana State Police in Jasper are investigating the theft of $7,500 in items from an office at the Norfolk Southern Rail Yard in Huntingburg.

The thefts are believed to have taken place between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m. Aug. 31. Items stolen from lockers include two Motorola and four Kenwood portable two-way radios and three switch keys.

Special Agent John Hartman with the Norfolk Southern Railroad police said a dark blue minivan believed to be a GMC, and driven by a white male with a small build and dark hair, was seen in the area at the time.

“Locating these items is crucial for the security and integrity of the rail system,” Hartman said in a news release.

Investigators are asking anyone who might have seen anything unusual around the rail yard or who has information about the burglary to call Norfolk Southern’s police communication center at (800) 453-2530 or the state police in Jasper at (800) 742-7475 (in state only) or 482-1441.
