CLEVELAND, May 18 – President Bush nominated three individuals to the Amtrak Reform Board, including Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta to five year terms. Also nominated are R. Hunter Biden, of Delaware, and Donna R. McLean, of the District of Columbia.
R. Hunter Biden will replace Michael S. Dukakis, and Donna R. McLean will replace John Robert Smith. The terms of both Dukakis and Smith had expired.
“We look forward to meeting with both Mr. Biden and Ms. McLean,” BLET National President Don Hahs said.
R. Hunter Biden is the younger son of Senator Joseph Biden (D-Del.). A founding partner of Oldaker, Biden & Belair, Mr. Biden currently focuses on the Financial Services Industry, International Business Development, International Trade Policy and Information Technology Policy as it relates to intellectual property rights, consumer privacy and telecommunications. He has served as a Senior Vice President at a major financial services firm and most recently was a Presidential appointee at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he served as the Executive Director for e-Commerce Policy Coordination under Secretaries Daley and Mineta. While with the Administration he also participated in a number of international business development and policy missions to Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Mr. Biden has a B.A. from Georgetown University and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
Donna R. McLean served as the Assistant Secretary for the Office of Budget and Programs and Chief Financial Officer at the U.S. Department of Transportation. She previously served as Assistant Administrator for Financial Services at the Federal Aviation Administration. McLean also has previous experience as a Program Analyst for the Office of the Secretary, Department of Transportation and as a budget examiner at the Office of Management and Budget. In 2004, she left the federal government to launch a consulting firm specializing in federal transportation policies and government relations. McLean earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and holds a master’s of public affairs, both from Indiana University.
