SECAUCUS, N.J. — Rail commuters faced delays going in and out of New York’s Penn Station for about 3 hours Thursday because an overhead power line fell on the tracks.

Trains in and out of New York were operating up to 30 minutes behind schedule.

Midtown Direct trains on the Montclair-Boonton Line and Gladstone Branch were diverted to Hoboken to reduce congestion.

PATH honored NJ Transit tickets.

Repairs were completed by 8:15 a.m. and there were some residual delays, NJ Transit spokesman Dan Stessel said.

It was not known what caused the wire to come down, Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said.

Amtrak service also was delayed along the Northeast Corridor.
