HOBOKEN, N.J. — After three people committed suicide in North Jersey this summer by standing or lying in front of trains, the prayers of communities from Paterson to Park Ridge to Clifton focused on the families of the dead. But each tragedy also left behind another, unseen victim: the train engineer, forced to watch each gruesome death through the locomotive’s thick glass.
