MONTREAL — Stella-Jones Inc. is riding the resurgence in North American rail traffic to healthy spikes in revenue and profits.
The St. Laurent-based manufacturer of railway ties and utility poles earned $8.5 million on sales of $130 million in the first quarter ended March 31. Profits were up 47 percent from a year earlier, while sales rose 31 percent.
