BOCA RATON, Fla. — Gary O. Marino, RailAmerica Chairman, President & CEO, today announced the appointment of Michael “Scott” Linn as Senior Vice President North American Rail Group – Eastern Corridor. In this position, Mr. Linn will oversee the rail operations of 26 of RailAmerica’s railroads, which operate 4100 miles in 15 states and 3 Canadian provinces, and employ over 900 people. In 2003, the Eastern Corridor railroads transported approximately 758,000 carloads. Mr. Linn, who has over 21 years of railroad experience, was previously RailAmerica’s Vice President of Engineering. Mr. Linn fills the position vacated by Joe Conklin, who was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in November of last year.

Mr. Linn joined RailAmerica in October 2000 from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) and its predecessor railroads where he served for 18 years. Mr. Linn held a variety of positions, including Trainmaster, Superintendent of MOW Scheduling, Director of South American Operations for Metrovias & Trenes de Buenos Aires, Maintenance Engineer and Division Engineer.
