(RailAmerica issued the following news release on October 14.)
BOCA RATON, Fla. & CARY, N.C. — RailAmerica, Inc. and Railinc today announced that the North Carolina & Virginia Railroad (NCVA) , owned by RailAmerica, has implemented RailSync Command. The system-wide adoption of Command will continue until all of RailAmerica’s railroads are implemented. This effort will eventually see Railinc’s products and services emerge as the standard across RailAmerica’s many short line and regional railroads. RailAmerica railroads have long been customers of Railinc’s wide-ranging rail industry services.
The RailSync suite of Internet-based services was custom-created to manage the day-to-day operations of short line and regional railroads. Command is a Transportation Management System (TMS) that simplifies the steps necessary to report accurate and timely car movement events and provides new tools to help short line managers pinpoint delayed cars on their property.
“We believe the RailSync suite of tools offers a strategic and cost-effective solution for our railroads,” said Joe Conklin, RailAmerica’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
“RailAmerica’s implementation of Command at the NCVA is a first step in the implementation of Railinc’s system for RailAmerica,” said Paul Neville, Railinc’s Vice President, Business Services. “There is a natural match here between Railinc’s expansive capabilities and RailAmerica’s need for the most advanced rail management services.”
