BOCA RATON, Fla. — RailAmerica, Inc. today announced plans for the creation of five Transportation Logistic Centers (TLC) and a Revenue Protection Center (RPC) to administer customer service, operations support, and revenue processes for RailAmerica’s 41 railroads operating in 27 states and three provinces.

“RailAmerica Transportation Logistics Centers will be located in Roseburg, OR, Phillipsburg, KS, Vassar, MI, Stellarton, NS, and Jacksonville, FL, and the RPC will be in St. Albans, VT,” announced David Rohal, RailAmerica Vice President. “Each TLC will support a number of RailAmerica properties. TLC and RPC positions will be filled by a combination of employees already working in these cities, employees relocating from other locations and new hires.”

The managers of each TLC and the RPC will report to Carolyn Stefanic, Director of Transportation Logistics, Revenue Protection, and Systems, who reports to Rohal.

The Roseburg TLC will support Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad (CORP), Puget Sound & Pacific Railroad (PSAP), Cascade & Columbia River Railroad (CSCD), California Northern Railroad (CFNR), San Joaquin Valley Railroad (SJVR), Ventura County Railroad (VCRR), San Diego & Imperial Valley Railroad (SDIY), and Arizona & California Railroad (ARZC). Staff support will consist of nine Transportation Logistic Specialists performing customer service and operations support, one Car Control Specialist handling car ordering, local car distribution, and car hire, two Revenue Specialists handling switch, demurrage, and miscellaneous billing and one Collection Specialist.

The Phillipsburg TLC will support Kyle Railroad (KYLE), Kiamichi Railroad (KRR), Texas Northeastern Railroad (TNER), Dallas, Garland & Northeastern Railroad (DGNO), Rockdale, Sandow & Southern Railroad (RSS), Point Comfort & Northern Railway (PCN), Bauxite & Northern Railway (BXN), Missouri & Northern Arkansas Railroad (MNA), and Otter Tail Valley Railroad (OTVR). Staff support will consist of 13 Transportation Logistic Specialists performing customer service and operations support, one Car Control Specialist in charge of car hire, car ordering and fleet management, two Revenue Specialists handling switch, line haul, demurrage and miscellaneous billing and one Collections Specialist.

The Vassar TLC will support Huron & Eastern Railroad (HESR), Mid-Michigan Railroad (MMRR), Grand Rapids Eastern Railroad (GR), Michigan Shore Railroad (MS), Indiana Southern Railroad (ISRR), Chicago, Ft Wayne & Eastern Railroad (CFE), Indiana & Ohio Railway (IORY) and Central Railroad of Indiana (CIND). The staff support will consist of 19 Transportation Logistics Specialists performing customer service and operations support, one Car Control Specialist in charge of car hire, car ordering and fleet management, two Revenue Specialists handling switch, line haul, demurrage and miscellaneous billing and one Collections Specialist.

The Stellarton TLC will support Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia Railway (CBNS), Goderich-Exeter Railway (GEXR), Southern Ontario Railway (SOR) and Ottawa Valley Railway (OVR). This center will interact with the railway’s customers, employees and the public with an emphasis on providing a high standard of customer service. The Stellarton TLC will be staffed by four Transportation Logistic Specialists who will be responsible for all customer service and operations support functions for the railroad, one Senior Transportation Logistic Specialist who will be responsible for car hire, car ordering, fleet management, and one Revenue Specialist/Collections handling switch, line haul, demurrage and miscellaneous billing.

The Jacksonville TLC will support New England Central Railroad (NECR), Connecticut Southern Railroad (CSO), South Carolina Central Railroad (SCRF), Carolina Piedmont Railroad (CPDR), North Carolina & Virginia Railroad (NCVA), Virginia Southern Railroad (VS), Chesapeake & Albemarle Railroad (CA), Alabama Gulf Coast (AGR), Eastern Alabama Railway (EARY), and Massena Terminal Railroad (MSTR). The Jacksonville TLC will have eight Transportation Logistics Specialists, four Lead Transportation Logistic Specialists, two Revenue Specialists, one Car Control Specialist and one Collection Specialist.

The Revenue Protection Center will perform accounting services for 22 RailAmerica, Inc. railroads across the United States, including New England Central Railroad (NECR), Indiana & Ohio Railroad (IORY), Alabama & Gulf Coast Railroad (AGR), and Mid-Michigan Railroad (MMRR). These accounting services will focus around the interline settlement, junction settlement, corresponding accounts receivable, and customer freight billing functions. The RPC will employ approximately 15 employees in the St. Albans, Vermont office. The staff will be made up of primarily veteran and experienced employees, many of whom already work in the St. Albans office.

Transitions from current operations to the TLC’s and RPC are expected to occur over the next six months.
