STOCKTON, Calif. — Eight shots were fired at a railroad crew working on tracks in Stockton on Monday evening.

The crew was working on the tracks near the intersection of Golden Gate and East Section avenues when they saw a man in a black hat and blue jacket walking a pit bull nearby, according to a sheriff’s report.

A member of the railroad crew pointed a light at the man about 50 feet away, and the man pointed a light back at the crew. The man then asked if he could cross and walked north.

The man later was seen by the train’s engine at about 8 p.m., and a short time later, four shots were heard, according to the report. A 30-second pause was followed by four more shots.

No injuries were reported, and the crew was unsure if the man with the pit bull fired the shots.
