MARINGOUIN, La. — Two rail workers were slightly injured early Thursday when three tank cars and two locomotives derailed in Pointe Coupee Parish.
Union Pacific officials said a rail snapped at a switching yard near Maringouin as the empty tank cars were moving, causing them to derail. After they left the track, the cars hit locomotives with the two workers in them.
One worker complained of a sore knee and the other of a stiff neck, said John Bromley, a spokesman for Union Pacific.
