The transient who claimed to have suffered chemical burns when he hitched a ride on a railroad tanker near Pottsville, Pa., overnight Sunday has been released from the hospital.
Citing privacy laws the hospital’s director of media relations, said he could not comment on the transient’s treatment or if a chemical that may have caused the burn was determined.
Paul Froutz, director of public safety for the Northumberland County Emergency Management Agency, had said Tuesday that testing of Brooks’ clothing and a blanket by the state Department of Environmental Protection revealed no information about what may have caused his burns or the foul odor that sickened others. Also, air samples were taken at the scene with a gas chromatographer and showed nothing out of the ordinary, according to DEP spokesman Dan Spadoni.
