PALM BEACH, Fla. — A railroad maintenance worker is facing charges that he manipulated evidence following a 2016 Amtrak train crash that left a Riviera Beach woman with life-altering injuries, according to a West Palm Beach police report. Alberto Perez, 52, of Miramar is accused of removing a circuit board from a black-box recorder and tampering with other evidence after the gate arms and signals at a railroad crossing near 25th Street and Windsor Avenue failed to deploy, causing a New York-bound Amtrak train to smash into a 2004 Mercury Sable on July 6, 2016.
