TACOMA, Wash. — A Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railway worker died today in a Tacoma rail yard, a company spokesman said.
The man was killed as he helped put a train car that had derailed back on the tracks, said company spokesman Gus Melonas. The accident happened in the north end of the rail yard near the Amtrak station sometime between 1 and 2 p.m., he said.
Melonas declined to provide the man’s age or say how many years he worked for the company, how exactly he was killed or if he died at the scene.
Railroad officials will investigate the accident, he said.
